Scholarships

The College for Financial Planning awards scholarships to individuals who show significant potential or have already achieved outstanding success in finance, financial planning, and/or financial analysis and show promise of being future industry leaders.

Specific criteria for scholarships include: work experience; licenses, designations, recognitions received, and academic accomplishments; and unsolicited letters from past clients. In addition to leadership qualities, community service and a commitment to a career in financial planning will also be considered by the College scholarship committee.

Scholarship Options:

  • CFP Certification Professional Education & Review Scholarships

    David M. King Merit Scholarship

    Awarded annually to an individual who is new to the financial planning field (less than five years) and who shows significant potential for industry leadership.

    This scholarship honors the achievements of David M. King, who held the position of board chairman at three major financial planning organizations: The College for Financial Planning (1983-1985); The Institute for Certified Financial Planners (1979-1980); and the first Chairman of the Certified Financial Planner Board (1985-1987).

    This scholarship covers all costs associated with enrollment in the College’s CFP Certification Professional Education Program.

    Nauheim Merit Scholarship

    Awarded annually to an individual with five or more years of experience in the financial planning profession to assist them in satisfying the educational requirement for CFP® certification.

    In choosing the recipient, the College reviews nominations of individuals who have already achieved outstanding success in financial planning and who show promise of being future industry leaders.

    This scholarship covers all costs associated with enrollment in the College’s CFP Certification Professional Education Program.

    Ginger E. Current Merit Scholarship

    Awarded up to three times per year to students who are completing the educational requirement for CFP® certification and are preparing to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination.

    This scholarship is in honor of Ginger E. Current, and her dedication to the success of the College and our students for over 25 years.

    In choosing the recipients, the College reviews nominations of individuals who have already achieved outstanding success in their financial planning education and who show promise of successfully passing the CFP® Certification Examination.

    The scholarships cover all costs associated with enrollment in one of the College’s CFP® Certification Examination review classes, including our popular “Live Reviews” (excluding travel expenses).

  • Foundations in Financial Planning Scholarships

    Financial Planning Association (FPA) Merit Scholarship

    In order to reward outstanding assistants of CFP® certificants who have shown dedication to the financial planning industry, the College and FPA offer up to two scholarships per year to expand the knowledge and skills of those assisting CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certificants.

    In choosing the recipients, the College and FPA review nominations of individuals who have already achieved outstanding success in supporting financial planning and who show promise of being future industry leaders.

    These scholarships cover all costs associated with enrollment in the College’s self-study Foundations in Financial Planning for the RP® Designation

    National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) Merit Scholarships

    In order to reward outstanding assistants of CFP® certificants who have shown dedication to the financial planning industry, the College and NAPFA offer up to two scholarships per year. In choosing the recipients, the College and NAPFA review nominations of individuals who have already achieved outstanding success in supporting financial planning and who show promise of being future industry leaders.

    These scholarships cover all costs associated with enrollment in the College’s self-study Foundations in Financial Planning for the RP® Designation

  • Graduate Degree Program Scholarships

    Loren Dunton Merit Scholarship

    For this scholarship, the College considers individuals who have proven themselves to be leaders in the financial planning field (minimum of five years experience) and have given something back to the profession.

    This scholarship is awarded is in honor of the late Loren Dunton, who was the driving force that solidified the ideas and activities of the professional financial planner. Mr. Dunton played a significant role in the creation and promotion of the IAFP, the College, and the Institute of Certified Financial Planners.

    This scholarship covers all costs associated with completion of the College’s Master of Science Degree, Personal Financial Planning Major or the Master of Science Degree in Finance, excluding textbooks.

    Financial Analysis Level I Scholarship

    To promote professionalism in financial analysis, this scholarship is awarded annually to a qualified U.S. citizen master's student who is interested in pursuing the CFA Institute's Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Level I Exam.

    The scholarship covers tuition for the Graduate Certificate for Level I Financial Analysis (study materials and textbooks not included).

    Hal Lenhart Memorial Financial Analysis Scholarship

    To promote professionalism in financial analysis, this Scholarship is awarded annually to a master's student who is interested in pursuing the Master of Science Financial Analysis major with the College. The scholarship covers remaining tuition for the Master of Science degree program (study materials and textbooks not included)

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have applied for and been accepted into the College for Financial Planning's Master of Science degree program, Financial Analysis major, no later than April 1 of the current year.

  • Retirement Planning Scholarships

    Ginger E. Current Retirement Designation Merit Scholarship

    Awarded up to three times per year to students who are interested in earning the Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM or CRPC® or Chartered Retirement Plans SpecialistSM or CRPS® designations.

    This scholarship is in honor of Ginger E. Current, and her dedication to the success of the College and our students for over 25 years.

    In choosing the recipients, the College reviews nominations of individuals who wish to expand their knowledge in retirement planning.

    The scholarship covers all costs associated with enrollment in the self-study or online instructor-led MENTOR coursework for either the CRPC® or CRPS® educational program.
